2014

I’m fully aware it’s almost the end of January and the first blog post of the year would have been more fitting two or three weeks ago. Oh well, better late than never. Quite a few of my plans for this year have to do with photography one way or another. Among other (more specific) things I’d simply like to keep on enjoying photography, have photos printed out more often so they don’t end up forgotten in my digital archives, actually be in some photos myself (instead of always behind the camera, where I’m more comfortable :) and last but not least blog a bit more often than in the last few months :) So this little blog post today is just to finally put an end to my blog hiatus and to wish you all a fabulous year! :) See you around here soon!

Mia

blog 1

Is it only me or does everyone think I get to take photos of the cutest of kiddos?! :) I’m terribly fond of children in general, but like I mentioned on facebook the other day I really do think I get to meet the most gorgeous ones! Lovely little Mia is no doubt one of them – she won me over in no time.

BLOG

I consider myself very lucky to be doing what I do – take photos and capture memories at the same time! If you’ve got a little cutie pie or two you’d like some photos of, you know where to find me:)

Konji ::::: Horses

During a short holiday up north, one of the things we did was visit a horse farm for a bit of horse riding. It was only my second time sitting on a horse, but again a fun experience, although with a much less intense adrenaline rush than some years ago in Mongolia, when the locals seemed to assume we had all been doing it since we were little kids.

Of course I had my camera with me – it was a welcome change from shooting all the kids and adults. The horses turned out to be models one can only wish for: smart eyes, wind-ruffled manes and natural-born at posing :)

Poroka: Maibritt & Kim

Super sta vsak zase, skupaj še bolj! :)

There’s probably few people I can still remember where and when exactly I met them for the first time! Well, Maibritt’s definitely not one of them! It was an evening in Sydney ages ago, where a few of us staying at the same hostel got together at a nearby pub for a drink or two. I ended up making friends with six people (Maibritt was one of them) that are to blame I saw much less of Australia than I had initially planned. I stayed in Sydney way longer than I was going to, but never regretted it. When you are lucky enough to meet such great people, it’s worth seeing less and spending time with them! It took quite a bit of effort and some flying around Europe for us to keep in touch, we’re all from different countries after all. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, so there was no shortage of reunions all over Europe. Fast forward 11 years and I got an invitation to the wedding in Denmark. Of course, I had my camera with me :)

Maibritt in Kim, thanks again for having me over! You’re both great as it is and together even more so! The wedding day was all one can wish for: sunshine, laughter and good mood galore, family and good friends – and that’s all you need! In 50 year’s time I’m hoping to take photos at the golden anniversary :)

Rami

On Friday, when Jernej – a friend of mine who could easily open a restaurant himself – was pampering us with another of his culinary masterpieces and we were eating bulgur, I remembered another feast a few months ago. Back then I was at a friends’ post-wedding/anniversary get-together with heaps of Middle Eastern food prepared by Rami, a Syrian living in Slovenia! Finger lickin’ good! It’s about time I tried one of the ‘must make’ recipes I’m so good at collecting.

Male misli

Večino časa pred mojih objektivom res stojijo otroci, ampak tu in tam najdem tudi kakšno odraslo ‘žrtev’.

I mostly do family and children photo sessions, but occasionally I do get to take other kinds of photos too. Nataša, a fellow translator, needed some photos for her website and Tivoli Park seemed like an excellent choice – who says photos of this kind have to be taken indoors, in a dull office or something?! Nataša says standing in front of the camera is nowhere near the list of things she likes doing (to put it mildly), but she did great! A real trooper, she was!

And if you happen to need a translator, she’s a perfect choice for you: http://www.malemisli.si/. Shameless plug: let me remind you I’m a translator myself too, so you’re more than welcome to contact me too:)

Marcel

Judging by how many teeny tiny babies I’ve photographed lately, I think it’s safe to say there’s a proper baby boom going on – a long and harsh winter may have had something to do with it :) It’s a very special feeling a family letting you into their home, not long after they’ve come from the maternity hospital and while they are still getting used to one another. All I can say is ‘thank you’!

You’ve actually seen little Marcel before – but back than as a star of the maternity photo session. A cute little charmer, who had no problems letting us know it was time to be fed or to give him a bit of a break, but we ended up with a fair bit of photos nevertheless – you can see a few below.

Boudoir fotografija ::: Boudoir photography

Na tele fotografije sem pa skoraj pozabila. Narejene so bile že kar lep čas nazaj, tam okrog valentinovega – kot darilo za enega srečneža. Drage punce, če se še katera opogumi, veste, kje me najdete:)
It has totally slipped my mind to post these photos. They were taken a while ago, right before Valentine’s Day – as a present for a very lucky guy. Dear girls, if any of you is up for something similar, you know where to find me:)

I’m at a loss for words, even more so than usual – blame it on the heat wave. But as they say ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, so I’ll let the photos below do the talking.A photo session with a great little family in Otočec, on a well-known river island in the south-east of Slovenia. The reason for our photo date was the little sweetie pie, who slept throughout most of our time together. I was totally smitten with him straight away– it probably shows on the photos.

Nin

They say every self-respecting Slovenian has been on Triglav (the highest mountain of Slovenia) at least once and to the seaside in Croatia at least a few times. While there, we usually don’t get to see much more than a beach or two, some grilled kalamari and an ice cream stand – we get too lazy and the temperatures are too high to do much sightseeing.

Last year in early May, me and two friends of mine decided it was about time we changed this and set off on a proper little road trip along the Adriatic Coast. We didn’t see many beaches up close, but there was no lack of charming little streets, seagulls, piers and sailing boats. An all-around great trip!

It’s now been more than a year since the trip, but as this is the peak of the holiday season, I thought it was a good time to post a few photos. Maybe it’ll make you do a bit of sighseeing when you’re on holiday down south in Croatia.

mateja zuraj _ Nin

The first on the list of coastal towns we visited was Nin – a cute little town, where we stayed the first night. It was almost empty outside of the holiday season – there was noone around apart from a few locals on the way home from the Sunday mass and a fisherman or two! I’ll be happy to come back at any time again!
